Old Island Grafitti

Yesterday, I made a rubbing of one of the names scratched into the rocks - as I removed the piece of paper from the rock, a gust of wind carried it into the sea - despite the loss of the work - I could only laugh - the name of someone now adrift in the sea

Sunday 23 August (6)

you can say anything, as long as you say you are an artist

buying a torch i ask a shop assistant which he considers is best, i say i think the cheaper one is OK - i want it for a particular purpose, he asks me what that is, i look at him - he seems eager to know

“ i am an artist ” he nods encouragingly at me “ i am going to strap the torch to my head, and at midnight climb to the top of a very tall ladder facing out to sea as if i was a lighthouse ”

" then you’ll need this one for that, the beam is better the other one is a LED light it wont work so well ”

" thank you " i reply " and thank you for NOT laughing " he pats me on the back, before i go to pay for the torch
