Last night's moon seen from a late night ferry

Paul Newman playing 'Fast Eddy' - a framed still from the film The Hustler, 1961, on the wall of The Corona Bar owned by the Finnish filmaker Ali Kaurismaki - as an art student Ian Breakwell and a friend would recite the lines from this marvellous film in the local pool hall - many years later myself and another artist approached Breakwell to be involved in an exhibition we were curating titled 'Hustler' - Breakwell was kind enough to offer a series of his early etchings based on the theme of playing pool, which he had tucked away in a house in Southern Ireland - he also told us about a film of the comedian W.C Fields who had a 'trick' pool table made to his own specifications, somehow designed to that it was impossible to beat him playing on it - unfortunately the show never materialised though I have several beautifully hand written letters from Breakwell.

Davina drawing the portrait of someone on i-chat, who was also drawing her portrait at the same time - during an opening of an exhibition last night in Helsinki.

Today Davina and Daniel presented ideas for making work during our residency to Viveka who co-ordinates the residency programme here on the island - they mostly involve contacting, and then negotiating with 'the authorities' so we can proceed with making the work - we think it will take a few days to hear which of our ideas have been 'approved'.
